The MONTH OF MAY CORE VALUES EMPATHY AND EXCELLENCE
This month character values are "Empathy" and "Excellence". When we seek to understand the perspective of another person, student, or a parent we are practicing empathy. When empathetic communication is encouraged at work, school and community, individuals feel more comfortable speaking openly, they feel like they matter, and they feel safe. That's why empathy in communication is crucial to community-wide success. Our character TEAM prepped the below newsletter for daily character teaching when opportunities arise.

September/October- Patience/ Purpose
What is patience?
|
patience...Give me patience and I want it NOW! In a world of microwaves, the internet, cell phones and instant everything patience has become a lost art. Consider the importance of patience in military tactics, sports strategies, and majestic redwoods. Patience is a powerful virtue. A young mother once has these words of wisdom to her youngster who was restless while waiting in line at the grocery. “You can either practice patience or complaining. Which do you want to be better at?”
This month choose to practice patience whenever the opportunity arises. |
I have seen many storms in my life. Most storms have caught me by surprise, so I had to learn very quickly to look further and understand that I am not capable of controlling the weather, to exercise the art of patience and to respect the fury of nature.
